The Blues Kings are a tribute to the three Blues kings: Albert, BB and Freddy King – three strong, guitar playing blues giants who are not related to each other in spite of their joint surname.

”Blues Boy” King grew up in Indianola, Mississippi, where he from a young age was working hard as a farmer. His musical carriere started in Memphis where he first got known as a DJ on a local radio station. He recorded his first album in 1949 and since then he has recorded hundreds of more and toured around the world, until spring of 2006 when he in his world tour said goodbye to all his fans. BB is probably our times biggest bluesartist. In 2004 he received the prestige’s Polar price directly from the hand of our Swedish king!

Freddy King – ”The Texas Cannonball” – born in Dallas he became the biggest name of Texas-blues. Eric Clapton mentions Freddy as his primer inspiration. Biggest hits: The instrumental ”Hideaway” from 1961 and ”Goin´Down”, 1971. Freddy past away in the year of 1978.

Albert King, from ”Love Joy”, Illinois – quit his job as a bulldozer-driver to be a musician. Albert is most known for his cooperation with the soul label Stax Records, Memphis. Songs such as ”Born under a Bad Sign” and ”Oh, Pretty Woman” will always be connected to him. Albert King past away in december 1992.

Blues kings are: Derek January – vocals/bass, James Bradley Jr – vocals/drums, Pierre Swärd – vocals/Hammond B3, Clas Yngström – vocals/guitar, Gunnar Bergsten – baritone saxophone and Stefan Isaksson – tenor saxophone. The different group members have through the years been playing songs by the three ”kings” and they now want to manifest the greatness the three gives all together.

This year the group is only available at a few festivals but plans have been made for a longer tour...
